Deep Diver Specialty on Koh Lanta
Deep Diving on Koh Lanta
Are you tempted to go a little bit deeper on your dives? Do you want to explore shipwrecks, walls and canyons that lie beyond the limits of your current dive certification?
Here are 7 reason why you should take the SSI Deep Diver Specialty course here on Koh Lanta and get certified to dive to 40 metres:
1. Explore Deeper Dive Sites
Many intriguing dive sites, such as wrecks, walls, drop-offs, deeper reefs, and unique marine life habitats, are found at greater depths. A deep diver course allows you to safely explore these sites up to 40 metres (130 feet).
2. Safety and Skill Development
Diving at deeper depths requires a different set of skills to manage increased risks, such as nitrogen narcosis, increased air consumption, and longer decompression times. The course teaches you to handle these challenges confidently.
You’ll also gain experience in dive planning, gas management, and using a dive computer for deeper dives.
3. Increase Confidence and Experience
As you learn how to handle the specific conditions of deep diving, such as colder water, lower visibility, and changes in buoyancy, you’ll become a more capable and confident diver.
The course helps you expand your comfort zone and equips you to handle more demanding dives safely.
5. More Dive Travel Destinations
Once you’re certified to dive deeper, a whole new world of dive destinations opens up. From the wrecks of Chuuk Lagoon in Micronesia, Barracuda Point at Sipadan in Malaysia, or the iconic Blue Hole in Belize, there’s an endless list of bucket-list-worthy sites waiting for those with a Deep Diving Specialty certification.
6. Dive into History
Imagine exploring a sunken World War II wreck, or swimming through the remains of a long lost pirate ship. Many wrecks lie in deep water, making them off-limits to Open Water Divers, unless they’re certified as a Deep Diver.
7. Extend Bottom Time Safely
The course teaches how to maximise bottom time while managing air consumption and decompression limits, allowing you to explore more thoroughly while staying within safe limits.
